CT Clean Energy Fund announces Project 100

Initial forum to be held November 16

The "Project 100" is a new CCEF initiative supporting CT legislation that requires CT electric utilities to enter into power purchase agreements for no less than a 10-year period from renewable energy resources. Pricing under these agreements will include a premium of up to 5.5 cents/kWh.

The utilities must enter into contracts by July 1, 2007 with projects that:

  • Receive funding from the CT Clean Energy Fund;
  • Began operation after July 1, 2003; and
  • Are at least 1 MW in capacity

The CT Clean Energy Fund will host a forum on November 16, 2004 to provide information about the program. The forum will be the first opportunity for interested parties to comment on a draft Request For Proposal (RFP) to be released prior to the forum. For further information, visit the CT Clean Energy Fund website.

GT Equipment announces record bookings

500% increase over prior period

GT Equipment Technologies, Inc. has announced that it ended the 3rd quarter with new and record bookings from its world-wide business in excess of $21.2 million. The new bookings are for state-of-the- art capital equipment used in the solar manufacturing industry and represent more than a 500 percent improvement in bookings over the same quarter of 2003.

"GT Equipment Technologies has seen a rapid increase in demand for all of its solar products," said Tom Zarrella, President and COO. "Our record bookings show that American companies can remain competitive in the global marketplace. There is overall market demand for renewable energy, and we will be a major supplier for that market."

Evergreen Solar achieves record financial results

Capacity expansion proceeding ahead of schedule

For the third quarter ending September 30, 2004, Evergreen Solar posted record product revenues and achieved a dramatic improvement in product gross margin. The company also announced that all of its single ribbon and Gemini I furnaces were converted to Gemini II about six weeks ahead of schedule, and that it is on track to increase its plant's annual capacity to 15 megawatts by year's-end.

"The solar industry continues to experience the rapid expansion that began more than a decade ago," said Richard M. Feldt, President and Chief Executive Officer. "Because of increasing concerns about the supply of energy and the environment, alternative and renewable sources of energy are becoming increasingly more attractive. Today, demand already far exceeds supply in our industry, and Evergreen Solar continues to benefit. Our output is completely sold out for the remainder of this year, and we are on track to be sold out for next year as well."
